EXACTLY! I've been wondering this myself. It should be called a love "V" not a love triangle. Because triangles have three sides, as well as three points. The only way it can work is if one of them is gay or bisexual, otherwise it's just a love -line. For example
Mr A likes Miss B but Miss B likes Mr C. Now unless Mr C likes Mr A, that ain't a full triangle.
I totally agree - whether it's two girls and one guy, two guys and one girl, three girls or three guys, someone has to be either gay or bisexual to make a conceptual triangle whose attractions operate in one direction.
Because it's a common expression, pretty well no-one questions the logic of it... but you did! Good on you!!

Do you even know what a love triangle is? It doesn't matter if you're straight or not, we all have different issues and straight or non straight people end up in love triangles!

Haven't you ever heard the song Love Stinks by J. Geils?
"You love her, but she loves him,
and he loves somebody else,
you just can't win.
And so it goes, till the day you die,
this thing they call love,
It's gonna make you cry.
I've had the blues, the reds and the pinks,
One thing's for sure,
Love stinks"

It would still be a triangle if all three were all bent.
