The best way to look at this question is to figure out what is the probability of rolling a 5 and then subtract that from one.

So in this case, the probability of rolling a cube labeled 1-6 and getting a 5 is 1 out of 6. So you take 1 - (1/6) and you get 5/6..

So the prbablility of not rolling a 5 is 5/6

there are six numbers, 1 2 3 4 5 6, 5 is one of these numbers and there are 5 others, so the probability is 5 out of 6 chance you will not roll a 5

The probability of an event not happening is -1 ,so subtract 1 from the total number of possible outcome
6-1=5
therefore the probability of not rolling is 5/6

P(A) = number of possible events / total events (definition 1)

A = Probability to don't have a '' 5 ''

Probability to have a ''5'' = P(A) = 1/6 by definition 1

So, probability to don't have a ''5'' = 1 - probability to have a ''5''

= 1 - 1/6

= 5/6

Final answer : 5/6

Verification:

Sum of probabilities = 1

Probability to have ''5'' + probability to don't have ''5'' = 1

1/6 + 5/6 = 1

1 = 1 (true)
