if you decide to go - please be careful. Its very high crime. A friend of our family who lives in another area of South Africa recently went to Jo-berg to live. She was around 23-24. Her family had not heard from her for over a week, calling - no answers. Finally they went to her apt, she was not there. They eventually found her at the morgue. Not sure EXACTLY what happened as of yet but apparently signs point to her being car jacked, beaten and raped. This is a true story that happened just a few weeks ago. So, watch yourself when your there.

Johannesburg is the second greatest city in Africa, with an increase of than 3 million people calling this hectic city home and if you intend to visit this extraordinary city then that hotelbye is the area to start. Johannesburg offers visitors an event as distinctive and varied as the town itself. Whether you are on business, in search of a social encounter, an adrenaline run or simply want to relax and relax for some days, the city of Johannesburg has every thing you're looking for and more! In Johannesburg you can visit the Soweto (an abbreviation for South-western Townships) at 20 kilometres southwest of Johannesburg. That place presents guests a journey in to the soul of the struggle for flexibility and the birthplace of the struggle for democracy.

Definitely in December! That's the time of year when everybody is in the typical holiday spirit. It's the middle of summer and so you will experience great sunny weather and the best part about our weather in Joburg-there is NO humidity! As for festivities, I'm not really sure what festivities there are that are worth wile especially coming for, but I hope you enjoy your visit whenever it is that you come:)

Why would you go to Johannesburg? Dreadful place only good to arrive in and use as a pass through point. Rather go to the Escarpment or Kruger National Park if you are in that end of SA. But the very best bits are in the Cape, much further south.

If it ever become civilised again. Like the rest of South Africa it is full of violent crime and nowhere is safe whether it be the Beaches,Roads,Parks,Shopping Malls or Tourist Sites. They have more than 50 murders every day and a woman is raped every 8 minutes. That is apart from all the other crimes like car jacking, assault with weapons, baby rape, theft etc. You would be most unsafe after dark in any of their Cities and you should stay well away from that toilet.

Summer would be the nicest time in terms of weather so in other words anytime now until about may 2007. In terms of festivities, Joburg has something happening all the time. This place is never quiet and there are always festivals and parties happening. New Years of course is a big one, but Joburg is relatively quiet around that time because all joburgers go to the coast.
