I have my doubts but if anyone knows whether THEY did or it was studio musicians let me know. What's your opinion?

From everything I've read, the music on "Never Mind The Bollocks" was played entirely by the Sex Pistols - however, Steve Jones played all the bass parts. Sid Vicious contributed only one bass part, to "Holidays In The Sun" - which Steve Jones had to go back in and overdub anyway - Sid was made part of the group more for his look, his attitude, and his friendship with Johnny Rotten than for his musical abilities. Sid really couldn't play bass in the Pistols any better than he'd played drums for Souxie & the Banshees, and he didn't live long enough to get any better.

They did play their own music, maybe with the exception of Sid who was too messed up to play half the time, but he didn't play on the studio album.

Even though there were no virtuosos in the band, they could play, however the bollocks album was engineered to the hilt, you can hear how they cleaned it up if you get a chance to hear any outtakes.

The Sex Pistols talked ****, looked like ****, and wanted to play like ****, it was a social outcry more than music. They just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Even John Lydon to this day cannot explain what appeal his music has to the masses.

Fear not, they are genuine.
