Probably so. The public would then have a chance to see just how far left the Democratic party (especially Nancy) has gone. Unfortunately, there might be some serious damage to the judges nominated to federal courts by then.

It would all depend on what happens between now and 2008. Keep in mind however that because Bush is Republican and the Democrats even if they do very well would not have an overhwelming majority, much of the legislation passed could easily be vetoed and they would not have the votes to override the veto. Note also that only the President can make real decision about the direction of Iraq, congress is relegated to a function of providing funds.

That said, the war in Iraq, the economy and of course who runs for president will all be factors for the 2008 election

It sure can. The Democrats will have 2 years to screw up! This is just a temporary setback! Well make a comeback like we always do. Republicans know how to dig in a keep going.

GOP doesn't only stand for Grand old Party.

GOP also stands for Get Out and Push and Government of the People. We're resilient and strong! We never give up and we never stop fighting for what's right!

Maybe. But I would much rather have a democratic president with a Republican Congress than the other way around. Congress actually has more power than the President.

Perhaps so. If nancy actually becomes speaker of the house, she won't be able to pretend to be a centrist for 2 years.

NO, a loss in the 06 elections will make Republicans think they need to be more moderate. Thus they will move away from their base.
