Most of the apes are scared of water, which is why some open nature parks (such as Fota Wildlife Park) will have the monkey enclosure as an island without any fences.

Well, I do know that Ring Tailed Lemurs are. Most apes are inhabitants of the jungle, therefore, know not the ocean or other large bodies of H2O.
