I pierced my own ears a while back thinking it would be easier then trekking all the way to the mall, and boy was I wrong!! For starters, a day after I did it my right ear got horrendously infected. If I had gotten it done professionally, that never would have happened. Not only that, but the piercings on both ears were to low, and now I can't wear heavier earrings because they would make my earlobes sag. Please, learn from my mistake and get your piercing done the right way the first time around.

To echo everyone else, no. Ears are bad enough to pierce on your own, but lip piercing are much more complicated. Just save up and spend the money if you want a piercing; it's worth it. Otherwise, you have high chances of injuring yourself, getting an infection, doing the peircing crooked, or various other things.

NO! it just seems like piercing your lip is more serious than piercing your ears. If your ear gets infected, you can cover it up, but if your lip does, first of all, it's painful, and second of all, it would look bad. Just spend the few extra dollars to get it done professionally. Please.

Look around for a piercing shop in your area. Some places will pierce you for free. What that means is you buy the jewelry, which is normally about forty dollars. Trust me, do the research on the business that pierces you. If you get someone who knows what they are doing, it will be cheaper in the long run. If you get pierced incorrectly, you will have to wait for that one to heal completely before you can do it again in the same vacinity. Good luck, and happy additions!

I LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY!
never, EVER pierce yourself. ecspecially your lip! if you hit a nerve in your lip, youll be talking like you have a swollen jaw for the rest of your life. Go get a professional, they know where to put it, how to do it and how to keep it CLEAN. but if you dont heed my advice, AT LEAST wait for the winter season to be over. it sounds silly, but this is the time of year where everyone is SICK and GERMY. You wont know it if that needle has germs on it whether you have protected it or not. It doesnt matter. It will get infected and you could get very sick.

I don't think you should do your lip by yourself. It sounds really painful, and I think it would be better if you got it done by a professional, in case something did happen. My mom pierced my cartilage, but your lips can be really sensitive.

NO NO NO. Don't do it yourself. Don't even try. Pay the money and have a pro do it. There are important veins in your lip that you coule hit and bleed to death. Do you know how to clean it properly? Do you know what kind of jewelry to use? Go see someone who knows what they're doing.

NOOOOOOOOO!!! Do NOT do this yourself. If this is something u really want do it right!! I have had a total of 22 piercings and did not do ONE myself. Please go to a professional!! Would u give yourself stitches? Would u perform surgery on yourself? Leave it to the professionals!
