Yin & Yang.
Pain teaches us to be greatful & to reach beyond it toward the pleasure, and when we can accept both we truly become better in many ways.

I've had a painful two years with someone who meant the world to me, and I cannot say this has made me a better person. In fact, I don't like who I am any more. I wish I could go back to being the person I was before he ever entered my life. I'm destroyed now.

I think you can! It's the things you learn and your own morals that make you the type of person you are.
Pain does come into the learning process and everyone has been through it. From personal experience Pain makes you stronger and Wiser.

You can always be a better person. Somtimes painful experiences make us worse people. It's all just life.

Well, experience, in my opinion, is the best teacher... Experience can be happy or sad, but it doesn't necessarily have to be painful... however, pain does help somebody remember something more easily! :-)

I believe that is true most of the time..........with experience you become more aware and understanding. It makes you more empathetic towards others.
