Someone posted a death paragraph on Wikipedia.org that Betty White passed away today in a car accident and then someone/people posted questions on Y!A to get people to look at it. I just wanted people to realize that this is a LIE!!!! I cannot find anything other then the wikipedia entry stating this, and since wikipedia can be edited on the spot by anyone, it is not always a reliable source. I do hope the person who did this realizes that their IP address was recorded by wikipedia and he/she can be sued for liable.
Who else thinks that this joke wasn't funny?

James, I guess you forget or never heard of the case about the guy last year who posted an article on Wikipedia about a coworker of his that was a lie. He got into trouble with the law as well as got sued for liable. I think YOU need to brush up on the law.

Bravo for you for making this person accountable for this sick joke, which I actually fell for and researched until I arrived at the same conclusion several of us did--that it was done maliciously. I don't understand what kind of pleasure this individual derived at causing Yahoo supporters to share their grief over deliberately erroneous information. It not only isn't funny, it is legally walking on shakey ground and the only observation I can make is that it was witnessed by all of us on the web site, so that wasn't too brilliant. Finally, I am relieved Betty White is alive and the grief that still remains is for sick individuals who derive pleasure out of making others sad and victimizing so many people.

I took it off Wikipedia because it angered me so much.
I was surprised at how easy it was to edit that, but edit I did.
What a cruel and stupid "joke"---some people are just too bored to live amongst the civilized.
Thanks for posting a correction, I hope everyone sees it and the rumor is killed quick.

i agree, i love Betty White she is so funny. Wikipedia should control that. That is so horrible.

NOT FUNNY!!!! Betty is alive and well. If she wasn't, it would be on the news and I checked CNN and most importantly people, if ever you need to know who's dead or not, findagrave.com. She is not on there.
