If the chip or crack went all the way thruyou cna use an item called Mr. Sticky's Underwater Glu. Its flexible and will dry underwater. However if its juts on the outside of the tank and didn't go through all the way you can just get Silicone Sealant. Its harmless to fresh and salwater fish, 100% clear, and is flexible also. Heres the links to where you can buy them for real cheap (under $8): http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=9822&pcatids=8534,9822&Ntt=12579&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&N=0&Nty=1

With a 300 gallon tank, it probably isn't safe to just glue it. You need to go the the petstore or hardware store and get NON-TOXIC silicone sealant that says it is safe for aquarium use. You also need to get a piece of glass large enough to cover the crack, plus some additonal area around it. You will need to drain the water in the aquarium to several inches below the break, or drain it completely and remove the fish. Clean and dry the area around the crack, then apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to the crack and surrounding area, and then put the piece of glass over it. You need to secure the piece of glass to the crack with duct tape until the silicone sealant sets. Let it sit a day, and then you can refill the aquarium.

Get duct tape and patch the crack as you begin to empty the tank and relocate the fish (out of the cats reach and in their current water, just transfer to another container). Tell whomever the tank belongs to what happened and then call your local petstore to ask about glass repair. Fix the tank or buy a new one if you cannot fix it. Sorry sister, you broke it. You should take care of it.

ummmm... I guess now is not the time to bring up how silly it was to throw something as hard as a remote anywhere in the vicinity of a huge glass fishtank.... so....
I'd call a local aquarium place or pet store and see if they have any sort of crack repair stuff. Silicone would seal any leak... but if it's cracked, it's been severely weakened and could break easily at any point.
I'm guessing you're gonna have to shell out some dough to replace whomever's fishtank it was. Next time better wrap that remote in Charmin before throwing it. :)

You need to 'fess up and get a new tank. Blame the cat if you have to, but parents like you to be honest.
The water pressure is gonna break the tank on the crack. You have to get another tank before it completely breaks through, you may lose the fish and certainly will ruin the carpet and furniture.
Good luck

Uh... I don't believe they sell home repair kits for cracked glass. That crack is only going to get bigger and bigger until the whole thing shatters. If I were you I'd empty the tank right away before you have a broken tank and a flooded room.
