I absolutely HATE talking on the phone and consider it an intrusion, a necessary evil (I'm female). Even when you email someone about something their selling online, you both may exchange all necessary info on email, in like 2 seconds, and someone aaalllwwwaaayyyss says, "call me". Not. Why do people want to waste so much time bs'ing on a phone, when it can be dealt with in like 2 seconds in an email? I just refuse to do it. I always ignore that question in an email, and people are probably starting to think I have vision problems, lol!!

NO you're exercising your right to communicate in your preferred means of communication! I work in telesales so can associate with the 'wanting to get away from the phone' thing!

It depends entirely on the issue that they would like you to discuss with them. When you e-mail back and forth, that isn't a two-way discussion. You have to wait on their e-mail, and then you reply, and that raises another issue that they have to cover by e-mailing you back. Heck, if I want something resolved by means of a discussion, give me the telephone every time, so I and the other person can discuss back and forth in a single session. Much quicker, and much more generally effective.
That's not to say there aren't a lot of things that can be dealt with e-mailing back and forth, but by the same token, there are a whole lot of things much more smoothly and efficiently handled by voice to voice communication.

We are so alike! I have to really watch myself in front of my daughter because I have this habit of saying, "now what?" when the phone rings. I wouldn't have one if my husband didn't have a business.

It is hard to have an interactive discussion via e-mail, since you ask a question, get a response which is unclear so it prompts you to ask another question, ask another question, wait for that response, etc.

for business purposes.. like buying something... saying call me is foolish...
but for somethings being able to hear the inflection in someones voice can help avoid problems
