"Pee on MAT."
P=Prophase
M=Metaphase
A=Anaphase
T=Telophase
Prophase: The beginning. The cell is trying to get ready to divide. The chromosomes are condensing and the nuclear envelope is going away. Pro=before, pre.
Metaphase: When the chromosomes line up on the metaphase plate. (That one is kind of easy to remember)
Anaphase: When the chromosomes start to spread apart to opposite poles of the cell.
Telophase: This is the last word alphabetically, so it comes last. This is when the cell begins to pinch off a daughter cell.
