Remember the distributive property:
a(b+c) = ab + ac
Factoring it just puts it into reverse.

2a^2 - 10a = (2a * a) + (2a * -5) = 2a(a-5)

Then you can check it by doing the distributive property.
2a(a-5) = 2a^2 - 10a. Correct!

i think this is GCF factoring (Greatest common factor)

2a^2 -10a
-divide it by 2a (thats what they have in common)
2a^2 divided by 2a gives you a
10a divided by 2a gives you 5
your answer is: 2a(a-5)

i think thats how you do it.
