I live in Chicago and I have a problem. My landlord said that heat would be provided in my apartment(it is in my lease). Now that the weather has changed, my radiators hiss, but no heat comes out. I have called the maintainence people to fix it, but there are not in a big rush. What do I have to do to get heat in my apartment or get out of my lease. Who do I contact?

I would ask your landlord what someone working at the Attorney Generals consumer protection division would think if they lived there, and had no heat.

You can get in touch with the company (group) that manages your complex(they are the company that hired your manager) Look on your original lease contract & it should be on there. You may have to fax then something in writing but they will get in touch with your landlord & get the ball rolling. Nobody should have to be without heat in the winter in Chicago.

You should consult an attorney that specializes in landlord/tenant
relations. If he/she doesn't correct the situation then you should find another apartment.
