I am only 22 years old, i have no history of any medical problems, i dont take any medications and never have. i have been sexually active with my boyfriend for 5 years. We have only had intercourse with eachother and no one else, so i know it isnt a STD. Lately it is painful during and after intercourse. Sometimes the next day i start to bleed. For the past 3-4 months i have had my period about every 2 weeks, and it lasts for 3 weeks, and sometimes longer with spotting. so if you think about it, i have my period more then not having it! I also have cramping....This happened in the spring to me again too, and i talked with my doctor and they said it is just stress. Well this seems more then stress because i am getting fatigued, and i am sick of having my period!! Sorry this is so long, but i wanted to give all the details to rule out certain things. what is wrong with me!?? Please someone help...

Go back to your doctor A.S.A.P. No way is this caused by stress, you know this is not normal and so should he. I am not surprised you are tired, you must be absolutely exhausted. I am not a doctor, but the symptoms you describe could be attributed to fibroids in your uterus, they are tiny tumours made up of fibrous tissue and muscle and are always benign,if they are large they can be removed, sometimes you can have a D&C which is scapping the inside of the womb, to remove any loose skin etc. It is very common so don`t worry. As I said I am not a doctor, so it may not be this at all ( My sister had the same symptons and this is what she had) At the very least, you should ask your doctor if you can have an ultra-sound, so you can`see` what is going on. Please do go to him again. Good luck.

this is definitely not normal and you are right to be concerned and wanting to fix that.

So - it could be a hormonal issue and one way to fix it is with birth control pills.

but then - it could be something different. If your current doctor says "stress" - this is not good enough. I would change the doctor and get a second opinion.

Besides - if a good doctor still thinks it is stress then they can fix it with the pill. Nobody wants a period for 3 weeks, what a nightmare.

I recommend that you go to a different doc, female gyn to get another exam. A female doc will understand that you don't want to have your period all the time.

This happened to me a few months ago i had periods lasting a month, a week in between and then another period lasting a month i was also very tired falling asleep any where possible whenever i sat down.
My doctor took bloodtests and found out that my blood counts were low.
My platelet count ( the cells that clot your blood) were very low hence the frequent bleeding, my white blood cells were low making me unable to fight off infections and my iron levels were very low making me extremely tired.
You should go to the doctor and demand a blood test if they havent done it all ready also consider getting a nother doctor one that will take you seriously!
about the cramping-sorry dont know
hope this helps

Just to be safe I would go to another doctor. Stress causes a great deal of things in the body but I understand the pain in the butt it must be, plus the stress of having one all the time would make you so stressed you may have another. This is just something that I would really want another doctors opinion on.

Hi
Sorry you are having these problems, but i had the same and put up with it for years!finally i had enough and pestered my doctor.
I was sent for a hysteroctopy [where a small camera is inserted so the doctor can view inside your uterus].
I was told i had numerous polyps attached to the side of my womb.
I went into hospital and had them removed, which was the best thing i ever did.
Now no periods that last 3 weeks, absolute bliss i can tell you!
So go for it girl, you have nothing to lose except this horrible agony that will only get worse.good luck!

Go to a different Dr. I'm 35 and started having the same thing I suffered for two years lost my husband cuz I didn't want sex any more. I finally found a Dr that would listen and I had a hysterectomy. It was a little scary but I have my kids so it didn't matter. They have stuff to help now try birth control and certain herbs help too.

Find a different doctor. There's obviously something wrong (I don't know what) and your gut is telling you it's more than just stress. Listen to your gut!

Your doctor may suggest going on birth control pills to regulate your cycle. That won't fix any underlying problem, but at least your cycle would be back to normal!

You have got to see the doctor about this. I had a similar problem and is was a hormone inbalance. I became anaemic
Insist on seeing the doctor or go to A & E if the doctor doesn't help. Ring NHS direct if you are in the UK. They are excellent

you have a hormonal imbalance, probably estrogen dominance, which is something that often happesn to women your age. You should use some natural progesterone cream. It's not just stress, it's hormones but it's so easily fixed. I had the same problem when I was about 25.

I suggest you get a smear test, bleeding after sex is not normal. Nor is pain. You will probably also need a blood test as you may be anaemic due to all the blood loss. Go back to your doctor and insist on more tests.
