Some historians argue that the Presidential election of 1968 was the main factor in painting how the world developed right up till today. Therefore if Bobby Kennedy would have been elected the President of the USA in 1968 would the world be in the turmoil that it is now?

Yes, it definately would have been. We would have done away with Communism sooner and wouldn't be having these problems with Islamic Terrorists.

I think you're assuming that he would have been elected if he had lived. The mathematics of the delegate count were in Hubert Humphrey's favour; Kennedy had only won most of the primary delegates, but the nomination process was still dominated by state party caucuses, and Humphrey had won the lions share of those. If Kennedy had lived, he might have had enough support to cause the Convention to go into extra ballots, but Humphrey would still have won.

Kennedy might have given Humphrey a winning boost in November as the Vice-Presidential candidate, though.

If Kennedy had gotten the Democratic nomination, I feel the results of the election would have been the same, only Nixon would have won with a larger share of the vote. I think this is so because Nixon had the covert support of President Johnson, whose Vietnam views he shared.

Anyway, the election of a different President in 1968 would have absolutely no effect on events 38 years later, any more than the election of Al Smith in 1928 would have effected the issues in 1968. Completely different times, completely different issues.

it somewhat is no longer genuine. The Kennedys have been a rapacious lot knee-deep in corruption. Jack Kennedy have been given the USA of a into Vietnam. Bobby replaced into particularly in all danger the murderer of Marilyn Monroe and did no longer supply a toss approximately civil rights.

No, the world would be just the same.

We would still have the problems with the Islamic Terrorist regardless of who won the election.

My friend, the best answer I can give you for this question is this: We will keep asking this question to ourselves until someone forgets Bobby Kennedy ever lived!

I think historians can argue until the cows come home but all it is is speculation.
