No, they don't get offended by being called the suburbs. I grew up in San Mateo, a suburb of San Francisco and it does not offend me and I don't know anyone else who would be offended by it. Also, I highly disagree with the previous answerer about the suburbs being cheaper than The City. Napa and Sonoma are a bit less expensive because they are country & valley, more rural, so not considered a suburb (but they would not care if you called them suburb.) San Mateo and Marin are comprised of several suburbs, all which are highly expensive, equal to City prices and often times more expensive. I can agree about Daly City, though, because it is almost always overcast, therefore not many people want to live there, bringing housing prices down in that city.

San Francisco itself does not have suburbs, it extremely is why it is named a city. some factors i assume ought to be seen extra rural yet there are no longer any suburb factors. Neighboring cities are pronounced as suburbs nevertheless, alongside with Daly city, South San Francisco, San Bruno, or Pacifica yet those are all distinctive cities and not districts of the city. somebody suggested the sundown is a suburb, yet that isn't be able to be precise by way of fact lots of the homes there are apartments, condos, and apartments and that they only about all proportion an identical fence and facet partitions with busy streets jumbled together, which isn't function of a suburb and that's the way it is in many the city. the final public of homes that are no longer linked are in very high priced, ritzy neighborhoods, like pacific heights, as an occasion even though it is likewise under no circumstances a suburb

Most people wants to stay in San Francisco but with the high cost of living they transfer to the suburbs & it includes Daly City, the Contra Costa county, the wineries= Napa & Sonoma, Santa Rosa! There are people I know who transferred in these areas because it is a bit cheaper here.

All those are considered suburbs of frisco.. I would not be offended by the term but then again there are so very many people that might be put off. I guess it just proves that all us Californians are a bunch of fruits and nuts.
and we like it that way.
