Hi.. I was born and live in Luton and if you are going into Luton Airport then you can get a 757 bus from Luton Airport [there are bus stops outside the Airport] directly into the centre of London [go to Marble Arch, Oxford Street/Circus or London Victoria Bus station]. From there you can get the underground train to Camden. It really is straight forward.
The train option will be a little more complicated as you would need to get a bus from Luton Airport to Luton Airport Parkway train station, then get a train to Kings Cross St Pancras, and then get the underground. As well as being more time consuming, the trains are more expensive.. so stick to the bus option.
To book your coach to London go to: www.gobycoach.com and click on the link which says "click here for more locations" then put in "From" Luton Airport Bus Station "To" London Marble Arch and then book away! If the Marble Arch option does not bring up many options in terms of times of travel then book to go to London Victoria coach station which is also central [the underground is not far from this station].
In terms of the underground/the tube go to: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/
Finally I also know that another bus company goes from Luton Airport to central London and this company can be cheaper. Easybus and their web addressis: www.easybus.co.uk
Enjoy your stay!
P.S If you do want to get the train [there are road works on the M1 motorway which connects Luton to London but they are only for about 4 or 5 miles] then get any airport bus outside the airport and to Luton Airport Parkway station which is about 5 minutes from the Airport. Then get a train from Luton to Kings Cross/St Pancras. From there you can get the underground to Camden Town. From Kings Cross underground get the Northern Line [two stops] to Camden Town... THE BEST THING TO DO TO CUT DOWN ON COST WITH THE TRAIN OPTION IS TO BUY A ONE DAY TRAVEL CARD WHEN YOU GET TO LUTON AIRPORT PARKWAY which will enable you to use the trains, underground and buses [not coaches] for one day.

Yeah First Capital Connect (used to be called Thameslink) runs a service from Luton Airport Parkway (there are free buses from outside the airport straight there) to Kentish Town, which is really close to Camden Town in inner London. You'll need to change trains, probably at St Albans I think?
Otherwise, take the train from Luton Airport Parkway straight to Kings Cross and jump in a minicab, there are heaps of offices around there and Camden Town's just up the road.

One option may be to get a Capital Connect train to Kentish Town and a bus/taxi from there - Kentish Town station is about 10 minutes walk from Camden or one stop on the tube.
The interchange between Kings Cross Thameslink (where the Capital Connect trains from Luton stop) and the underground is not good - the Thameslink station is some way from the main station due to the position of the Cross London tunnels (Thameslink station is a converted underground station)

Thankfully I escaped Luton, but the best thing to do if you're dead nervous like, see about getting to Leighton Buzzard Train Station by bus from Luton Airport (The X31 I think). Then, you can get a train to London Euston which is a much better station than Kings Cross/St Pancreas (where the trains from Luton go to). I dunno what you do from Euston, but it's better than Kings Cross trust me.

Do not use the M1. There are always jams near Luton.
I live in Luton too.
