The historical events are not single occurences without any associations. On the other hand they are like the butter which comes up due to the costant churning of the buttermilk. If we somehow succeeded in suppressing down this coming up the forces will be diverted to some other ,unfamiliar channel perhaps with unforesee consequences. Hitler was not born with the infirmities from his mother's womb so that killing the expectant mother or the infant child would have changed the course of history in any way. In fact Mussoolini had forstalled Hitler in the development of Fascism and if Hitler would not have been there he would have risen up and up and up. The Jewish holocaust(though doubts are being raised about its occurence now) was the culmination of the felt injustice by the German about the allelged nefarious rold played by Jewish German in engineering the defeat of Germany in the First World War. Unless intensive efforts were made to obliterate this wrong impression on the German minds some other Hitler would have brought it about .
SF has many stories where a violent disturbance with a historical phenomenon by Time Travellers fails to change flow of history. Shooting down the killer of Abraham Lincoln before the event only leads to a change in the name of the persons firing the fatal shot.

I would change nothing. The Reason?
We have no idea what the NEW outcome would be. If we stopped a war it might give time to the agressor time to build an even more powerful weapon. We we stop hunger then we might not learn how to grow crops in places they should not grow. If we get everyone out of poverty we might create a people who have money and are not sure how to properly use it therefore give to someone one stupid like the terrorists.
No I wouldn't change a thing EVEN if I had the power.

If I could change history with one act, it would be in the year 1042 AD. I would have snuck into the home of an infant named Otho of Lagery (later known as Pope Urban II) and smothered him in his crib. He started the Crusades, which are still going on to this day.

I would go back to ww2 and stop the creation of the atom bomb. Without the atom/nuclear bomb many confrontations would have never happened. Things like the cuban missile crisis and the iraqi war(remember it was originally about "weapons of mass destruction f'in bush.)

I would convince my best friend to stay home Oct 9, 2003 because he died in a wreck that day and left behind a wife and 6 kids.

I would not change anything, all that has happened in the past has made me who I am today. If you were to change the past, you would change who you are.
