Funny thing is, the Chargers hired a shrink for an evaluation, and the shrink said, "uhm yeah, this guy's a loose cannon, and has the emotional maturity of a toddler. Prognosis: don't draft."

Well, they did anyway, and w/in 2 days of camp, the entire team hated his egotistical chump @ss.

gianormous waste of talent, but there were plenty of signs that said he wouldn't pan out....just, nobody paid any attention to them.

I'd have to say yes. I also think Akili Smith was a huge bust. Another one that pops to mind is Rashan Salaam, the running back the Bears picked many years ago. I loved Ryan Leaf for the fact he was an absolute train wreck. Millionaire/mental case. Nice to see that athletes of his caliber can handle criticism so well. It was good that he got out before he started to suck even worse.

Considering all his hype before the 98 draft, maybe so...there were so-called "experts" who proclaimed Leaf should "be taken ahead of Manning"...I wonder if they are still employed??? A few other QB's in recent BOMB history...Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Quincy Carter.....not to mention on of the biggest ever, 1990's Andre Ware.......but, Leaf would get my vote!

Ryan Leaf was an upset and the Indy Colts must be happy they didn't draft him (they ended up with Peyton). Ryan Leaf could have been a good player but he showed far greater symptoms of the T.O. disease.

Actually, that's Texas A &M Kingsville, I believe. it's a pretty small school, not the big boys in the Big 12.
