IPOD is an icon. To buy it is to want the name. They are a fine music player. My daughter has the Nano and loves it. One day she just woke up and the screen was all messed up. It took me a month to figure out how to get through their mass of web based red tape to send it in. By the time I did, it cost me $20 or something. They fixed it. I never got a phone number or an email to call and ask for my money back. She is happy so I'm happy.
In my opinion, the price is about 50% more than what it is worth. I would look at another brand. My Sony has has had zero problems, cost $50 less, has better sound, and is much smaller.
Back to the IPOD:
GB: If you get an IPOD, you will need twice the Gb. The software does not compress songs like the Sony. IMHO, 2Gb is still enough for songs. For video, a laptop or PSP are still the way to go.
features: IPOD has more features than it can make work. Like a MAC, there is only one way to do everything. . . .Apple's way. That includes song storage and all else.
Also, with any of these, to get good sound, you will probably want to junk the headphones and buy a bigger noise canceling set, jogging type or whatever you will use. This is true of almost all brands and models.

IPods don't use universal usb cables like all other mp3 players do - which sucks. They don't have built in radios - which sucks. The Sony PSP has a much bigger and more colorful screen than the IPod Video. And for the price, you can easily find other mp3 players with more storage space. FYI.
