well im no preppy but i think its because they are weird and they are different

Because preps look and act entirely different than goths and punks. Preps wear bright colors and are always worried about what other people think of them, and goths wear dark colors and couldn't care less of what other people think.

------------------------------------------------------------

Although that is not always the case because I happen to be very good friends with a punk person even though I am a prep.

Okay preps are against goths cause they're different, and are probably scared of them. I'm sort of a punk, and one of the preppy girls wont talk to me cause she thinks I'm a weirdo cause I wear black, and other dark colors, but as I turned around at her she flinched and hopped backwards. They probably think they look tough cause their picking on the tough people, but have you notice they do it silently, what i would do is just ignore them, they have no clue what punks and goths are like.

Because most punks and goths are purposely trying to buck the annoying highschool hierarchy generally commanded by 'preps'. (Everybody admires money and beauty) The open minded punk/goths are outnumbered by those who just want to look rebellious. IMHO

Because "different" is SCARY to some people.
The attitude usually stems from a sense of insecurity. That's fairly common, especially in teen years.
There aren't a lot of life-giving people interested in building teens up. And that's pretty sad, that we don't do more to pour life into teens. They're the next generation - they're the future and the future will be in their hands.
Big blessings on each and every one of you - each and every one of you has great worth and value!
BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER!

Why do punks automatically think preps hate them? what defines a prep? what defines a punk? Who Cares!? here's me: i listen to old rock, led zeppelin, Beatles, pink Floyd, queen, and some ZZ top... plus alot of other great oldies bands. I've got a crazy sense of humor, completely warped. i like to read vampire books and watch scary movies. here is how i dress: Abercrombie and Fitch hoodie, old navy Cami, lucky brand jeans(my favorite pair) a great pair of boots and some simple jewelry. i wear my hair down it is its natural color.i wear my makeup conservatively meaning not 3 pounds of eyeliner. what am i?? am i a prep because of how i dress? or am i a punk because of my personality? Neither. I am me.... pretty simple aye
