Great taste coolguy- Eternal Sunshine rocks! The director of that movie has a new one in the theaters now called "Science of Sleep" and it's even more romantic than Sunshine. It's also more strange and less structured though so if you need structure - skip it. The movie takes you into the dream world of a man in love and it's random just like our real dreams.
If you like foreign films the French film Amelie is very Romantic and very cool and different and so is IL Postino - something about the French! Gondry is French also - but his movies are in English.
Another offbeat quirky one is Donnie Darko. It's romantic, but you don't really realize it until the end. It's very strange and cultish - I loved it- but it's definitely more of a Guys movie.
Gattica is also pretty good, different and Romantic.
I'm not sure if a guy would like it or not, but a quirky movie that was also excellent is Off the Map with Sam Sheppard and Joan Allen and another guy who isn't famous. It's kind of a love triangle that resolves itself in a very satisfying way. It's romantic in the sense of finding true happiness by just letting things happen. It's such good movie that should have got more attention, but it may be a little slow paced for a guy.

I have 2 obscure romance films for you. I like them. You may not. They're light, they're different and a little off beat. You Stupid Man and The Baxter. Give them a try, if you like taking a risk.

Serendipity - great cast and good story line. Everything happens for a reason, by fate. Its not a typical chickflick, its different.
