how can i find out what someones i.p address is? i have my own website and someone has left a annoymous message and i have the i.p address but i would like to know( im too curious) who left the message

If you know the IP address all you can figure out about where tehy came from. to find out WHO had the address at the time you would need a warrant for the ISP's records.

My suggestion would be to cross reference the i.p address you have with that of e-mails. and other messages see if a match turns up if not then look at the isp by doing a whois on the net. if you google whois it will take you to various sites that you can do searches on. this will only allow you to discover their isp, so the rest would perhaps be detective work or it might rejog your memory to people you know who are on a certain isp. if not then you can start getting into the real nitty gritty and you can scan the ip address to see what applications/servers its running and see if any of those have any software vulnerabilities but you need technical expertise for this. you'd be suprised at what you can do with just an ip address.

unless you are a hacker, which i am not, the closest you can get to identifying the speciffic person is knowing who their internet service provider is, which will give you a general location but thats about it.
