To leave it better than when you arrived and as for death it has to be the biggest rush, that is why they save it for last.
And to correct the poor misguided soul above me...It was not the Machine the computer was named Deep Thought, and a girl did not ask the question it was two elderly men whose heirs through out time were directed to watch over it, and finally it was the next computer that was designed to come up with the question so the answer could be interpreted that was destroyed by the Inter Galactic Highway

Such a deep question was also asked of the Machine, which was built specifically to answer the question "What is the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything?"
After millenia of thinking it through, the Machine came up with the answer "42", and the poor girl who'd just had the epiphany to ask the question properly was killed when the Interstellar Highway Commission destroyed Earth at the beginning of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
The meaning of death? It's the bridge to the next existence. Where you spend it, how, and with whom is the source of religious debate in *this* life.
