Well go to all of your local fabric stores and ask if they are willing to donate some spools of yellow ribbon!!! If they can't maybe they have a clearance section they you can find some really cheap!! Try at home supply stores like home depot...maybe you can use some plastic...you know like caution tape without all of the writing you could use that for bows as well!!!
Last but not least try your local V.A....maybe they can help or even some of the Elk's Lodges or Kiwanis club in your community!!! Most clubs and Veteran's establishments are more than happy to help in situations like this!!!
And by the way I am so glad your son is coming home YEAH!!!!!!
Tell Him I said THANK YOU for his service!!!!

Plastic tape ribbons (as long as they don't say "police line" or "crime scene" of course) would work well for most of the street, with a cloth ribbon at your own home. The plastic ones are available from home improvement stores. At places like WalMart, you can often find a flat twin bedsheet for a very reasonable price. (WalMart's start around $3.00) Cut it with sharp scissors into strips about 2" wide and 2' to 3' long. If you can find one of these bedsheets, you wouldn't need to use the plastic ribbon at all. Try that. If they don't have one, they often have yellow fabric on the clearance tables. Check that out, too. If you're buying cut fabric, not a sheet, finger the edge to see if it's going to fray badly. If it is, get some plain old white glue. "Draw" all your ribbons in glue, spread the glue thinly along the edges of where you're going to cut. Let it dry, then cut them out and they won't fray.

Congratulate and thank your son from me, too, please. He doesn't know me, but he's defending my country and freedoms.

I would go to a local fabric center and explain what you want to do. Maybe the manager/owner would at least sell you at cost a huge roll of yellow ribbon.

You might be surprised how others in the neighborhood might help you celebrate this very special occasion when you tell them about your idea of the yellow ribbons!

Try finding cheap plastic yellow tablecloths. Most dollar stores sell them. Cut them into strips and make your bows. Thank your son for me. Glad you are getting him back! God bless!
