English

oz is 94% white

over 70% of Aussies are either British, direct descendants of the British or second descendants. (more than 90% of that figure are English)

Oz was discovered by the Britis in 1788 and it is a British colony operating with a Democratic Parliament government as well as having an attorney general that works on behalf of the queen.

The main language is Australian English in which the vocabulary is local and between that of British English and American English. For instance we Australians say "kerosene" like Americans while the British call the same thing "paraffin". On the other hand Australians call car fuel "petrol" like the British and Americans say "gasoline". There are also many words used in Australia which are not used much in British English or in American English.

Many of the slang words that people overseas think that Australians use are actually obsolete and have been for 40 or more years.

Other languages spoken in Australia include German, Modern Greek, Italian, Lebanese, Vietnamese, Mandarin and aboriginal dialects and languages.

By the way, Australia is not a British colony any more. The language was influenced by the original convicts but since hundreds or thousands of times the number of other people have arrived since the convict era, the convict effect is now weak. Did you know that the British sent more convicts to the old 13 colonies before the War of Independence than they ever did to Australia? Mainly because it was a lot closer.

As the other answers have said, it's English. As another answerer has also said, the British discovered Australia, which came as a surprise to the hundreds of thousands of Aborigines who were already here - but that's another story.
However, enough English people came here and set up enough schools and churchs so that we all spoke one language, as opposed to the thousand non-written languages that were already being spoken - but that's another story.

English, of course?!? the aussie dialect, though, is derived from English Cockney, the country was founded
around 1788, and was originally an English penal colony..
since then, like the US, people from other parts of the world have come to settle there.
