What makes green ones green? Or blue ones blue? Same thing, their diet. Learned that at the zoo when I was 6 and they had pink, green and blue ones.

Its the food they eat especially shrimp. On a side note, at marine parks like Sea World and at Hialeah race track in Miami, they supplement their flamingos food with paprika to create a more intense pink color. :)

Yeah! What they said! It's toxins in the shell fish and shrimp they eat that makes them pink. If you remove them and feed them on fish they become white.

I guess it is the food they eat. I've heard that before.. but not never knew that. It would be funny if they turned white, or if they were half white and half pink.
