All these players who had talents to be great.Maurice Clarett,Ricky Williams,Charles Rogers.WHY?

I have no idea.....maybe it's because they're human and make stupid mistakes.
However, I do see your point. Maurice Clarett just threw his pro football career down the proverbial toilet after all those criminal charges he has against him.
Ricky Williams is just plain stupid, period. Doing drugs even though he KNEW that the NFL tested players on a regular basis? Maybe he was stoned when he made the decision to be a pothead.
I don't know who Charles Rogers is, though.

A lot of them do it because they don't know any better. I don't think they conciously waste their talent. They do what they want to do and don't think about the repercussions. I can't belive that if Ricky Williams knew that he would be where he is today by smoking a little reefer, he would have done it. But like most people, you get millions of dollars at one time, they don't make wise decisions with it. Maurice Clarett and Charles Rogers are in the same boat although Maurice was a little different case. But don't think things will change, they will just get worse as more players get thrown more and more money.

There's a chance that some of them may not consider it a waste. While many of us would do anything to have to opportunity to play for a pro team, that may/may not be their passion. I'm sure we all know someone or possibly ourselves, that have a talent in some area or another that we care not to pursue. My mom always said i'd be an excellent accountant, but i'll be damned if i go that direction.

because they get paid too much.
they play hard through college to get the big paycheck in the NFL and forget how they got there, or get so caught up with their newfound riches that they cannot deal with it.

Because they want to be better? But why did they do it? To be better!
