What do you listen to (musically) and read to escape pop culture?

I like mystery stories - not the gory ones, just the ones where you have to solve a puzzle in the plot.

In music I usually turn to folk music - Pete Seeger and the like. My current favorite is an older guy (well, not older than Pete Seeger!) from New York City named Steve Suffet: http://suffet.home.att.net/ His live performances are really great, but you can get a hint of that from the recordings. Try to catch a live performance sometime - he really makes that guitar spout poetry, not just talk.
