I hope so, too. As one of millions of Americans who may benefit from this research. I hope that the research gets the funding that is needed to help people.

I will guarantee you not one more penny will be added to the millions Bush has already mandated for stem cell research. Follow closely and you will see, if you are even truly intersted in the subject. Otherwise, you too will just use this as another voting issue.
You will find that there are at least 14 different types of stem cell research programs, any one of which may prove to be a dead end. With that, research money gets moved to another program, which allows democrats to scream incredible bloody murder in how that evil man bush CUT stem cell research spending.
It's really pathetic, actually.

Don't be so quick-- the polls haven't close yet and the votes haven't been counted.
Regardless, I don't think we need to spend public money on doing so. I'm ok with the research, just not public funding of it. We have a massive deficit and national debt. Let the drug companies and other big busineses pay for it - they end up reaping the financial benefits anyway.
Besides, there's already money for the research, just on a limited number of stem cell strains. They could open it up reasonably to other stem cells. again, do it privately. I'm sure tons of hollywood stars, business leaders etc. would poney up money if they thought it were that important.

I really hope so. This seems, to me at least, to be a great oppertunity for, not only the Democratic Party, but for the advancement of Stem Cell research, which I feel needs to be greatly advanced.

The biggest problem is there is a law making it illegal for any new strains of stem cells to be used for research. So funding is only the secondary problem. right now scientists only have a certain number of stem cell strains to research with, and they are very apprehensive to use them since they can't get new ones.

I don't, unless they get fetal research off of the legislation to allow for stem cell research. There are other alternatives but nobody wants to talk about them.

We'll have more funds alright, after our taxes go through the roof again. How many of you have voted more than once, if at all, and seen the history of the Democratic party and our taxes?

Wasn't it Bill Clinton that made embryonic stem cell research illegal?
