May I suggest Cremation. I recently was faced with the sudden death with my mother. I was faced with making such choices. A simple cremation without a service can be done for Under $200. I had a full service and viewing & was able to finance it through a loan service the same way you do a car. I was able to have a $4000 service in exchange for $180 a month in payments. Things like newspaper ads cost money as well. If your in the philly area call the place I used:
Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home
Garrett RD. at Shadeland AV.
Drexel Hill,PA 19026
(610) 259-2200
Ask for the director Mr. Givnish.

I just recently buried my grandfather and the entire process (including body pick-up; embombing; coffin; cemetary plot; burial, etc) was about $6500.00 . And this was for modest arrangements. Today, it is almost impossible to purchase a single cemetary plot, you may have to purchase a double plot. Check your local cemetaries. You can also try Mt. Peace or Chelten Hills.
