Spiders dont really sleep in the sense that they close there eyes in dream but depending on the spider they do have time periods where there metabolic rate slows down. Usually if its like a spider that uses its vision to hunt it will slow down at night, where as a spider that uses its web and senses to hunt it will slow down in the day.

Yes all insects have a quiescent period where their activity slows down. Spiders do the same thing when they are not in the rime time for their favorite prey items. Now because insects and spiders do not have eyes, you wont really know when the organism is actually asleep, but you can tell just by its lack of energy and immbitlity. Most arthropods have some sort of retreat where this "sleeping" takes place, spiders typically have a cache or hiding place and insects will make use of any small space where they can be confined and protected.

Yup,insects do go to sleep but i do not know spider does.........
