i'm 16 and i've had my period for about 4 years. this is the first time this has happened but i had two periods last month. one started on october 1st and ended october 6th and then the other started october 26th and ended the 31st. they both were similar and the second one hurt like periods usually do. i am taking pain medicine for my period cramps called anaprox ds and i'm not sure if that had something to do with it. i've been on that medication for quite some time now so i don't think that is it. does anyone know what is wrong?

Make an appointment with an Ob-Gyn. I had this happen to me when I was 19. I had a cyst on my ovary. It didn't cause me pain but I had to get it under control. Don't hesitate to get it checked out. If you don't, it could cause you more problems down the road.

Sounds like nothing is wrong, 28 days is a typical cycle, not an absolute rule. Could be next time you go 6 weeks between periods. Unless you had unusual pain, or a big difference in flow, either really light or relly heavy, I woundn't worry about it.

I just talked to my doctor about this yesterday. The same thing happened to me, but I had a day of spotting in the middle. Since I'm quite a bit older than you, I have more things that could be out of wack than you. But he did tell me that more than likely I didn't ovulate. He didn't seemed to concerned about it, but he is still sending me to have blood work done and my regular exam next month. Being as you are 16, I wouldn't be too concerned about it at this point. If it continues to happen, definitely go see your OB/GYN about it.

Truthfully, there is probably nothing wrong. Most women experience their period every 20-36 days. All women's cycles differ, it's just an average that women have a period once a month (which is actually considered every 28-29 days). Most women have an "extra" period one month out of twelve. If it causes you too much concern, ask your OBGYN.

This happened to me before. My doctor said it meant that I didn't ovulate (release an egg) for that cycle. She said that it is normal and happens to a lot of women at least once. It could be because of stress, diet, maybe your medicine. However, if it keeps happening go to your doctor because something might be wrong.
