take the percent (7.75) and turn it into a decimal (0.0775).

multiply the decimal by the cost (0.0775 x 202.76 = y)

take that answer and subtract it from the cost (202.76- y = tax as a number)

take the tax as a number and subtract it from the total cost again to get the tocket price of the bike before tax

but i think it's wrong, lol.

Cost of the bike = $202.76
Tax rate of this Bike = 7.75%

Final Total Cost of the Ticket = $202.76 * (1.0775) = $218.46

Explanation ....
the % symbol represents "over a 100" then 7.75% equals 7.75/100
and if you multiply $202.76 times 7.75/100 then you get the additional amount of $15.71 that you will add to the bike price
Then we get $202.76 + $15.71 = $218.47

PS: I did it really fast at the beginning because I used a shortcut
$202.76 * (1.0775) = $202.76 * (1+7.75%) = $202.76 * (1+7.75/100) = $202.76 * (1+ 0.0775) = $218.47

Wow, that's a high interest rate! To figure it:

Multiply 202.76 times .0775. Then add the answer back in to 202.76. Round to the nearest penny.

Whenever you have to figure interest, you move the decimal point of the interest rate all the way to the left and put a zero in there too.

go to your calculator. put in 202.76 times 7.75. DO NOT PRESS THE EQUAL SIGN. Press the % sign instead. Now add your product to 202.76 and round off your sum to the hundredths. Good luck!
