I am a exchange student and I have been here for 2 months!
Sometimes I can't find topics to talk to friends in the school so I always very quiet~ (I am not afriad of saying English.) I don't know to say what when I am getting along with friends!!
And how to let people think you are a funny guy?

Bring up something annoying yet funny about a teacher in school. Make fun of the school lunch. Talk about how things are different from where your friends and make funny observations.
For example: I come from the US and when I walk I always have to watch out for cars. When I visited Denmark everyone was riding bikes. At one point I started asking myself what do bike crashes look like? Do you get bike insurance? Are people impressed if you have a Huffy and everyone else has a crappier bike?
Make funny almost ridiculous observations like that.

Just relax and be yourself. It sounds so simple, but it really is all you need to do. I used to be the same way. Try watching the news or learn about some things that these people would be interested in, so you can join into the conversation. As far as trying to be funny, dont put too much preasure on yourself to always have a funny thing to say. That just makes it harder. Just relax, they are your friends already, so you know they like you

You can do what I do. Say the first thing that comes to mind. I don't know why this works but it does.
Also, point of view is often a funny topic. Tell a story of an everyday event, and tell it from your point of view.

YOU CANT MAKE YOURSELF FUNNY OR YOU'LL END UP CORNY...I THINK YOU SHOULD BE YOURSELF ALOT OF PEOPLE LIKE FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS ...I THINK THEY ARE COOL
AT MY SCHOOL WE HAVE 2 GERMANY KIDS,1 FROM AFGHANISTAN, 1 FROM INDIA AND IM PRETTY SURE THERES MORE...BUT THE BEST THING IS TO BE YOURSELF
