The father isn't leaving, he is helping, but sometimes that isn't enough, since he isn't much older than she is.

To Demon Doll: If you read me question fully, you would have left your unwanted comment to yourself!!!!!
This is her third pregnancy, the other two never made it to full term, in other words, they DIED.

Go to your local Job and family services, and also the health department. Where I live there is also WIC (women infants and children). All will help tremendously, with insurance, free food, and depending on income, money and utility bills. If she is too proud, tell her to think of her unborn child, he/she needs this too. Good luck hon, keep me posted!

Try all of the places listed above and then call the local hospital and ask to speak to the social worker on staff. She should be able to list what services are available in your area and how to get them.
BTW Someone else suggested Planned Parenthood and I would be cautious of them based on MY own personal experience. Planned Parenthood seems to have a certain bias toward pregnancies and single mothers and I don't think it leans toward helping the mom carry the baby to term. At least that's not the way I was treated.

Try local listings in the yellow pages for WIC.
Also try www.citysearch.com. Look under financial aid, pregnancy, State assistance programs.
You might also call the local hospital and ask if they know of any programs that offer help. Depending on your local area there are probably many different avenues for assistance.

if she goes to a clinic to be checked and make sure she is pregnant they will give her a form to take to the human services office and a clinic will also tell her about other programs that can help her out such as wic (women, infant and children) which helps with milk and formula mostly. she can at least get some kind of insurance for the pregnancy even if she is working. but go to the doctor is the first step because you need the proof of pregnancy before you can go to human services along with birth certificate, s.s. card, and proof of income and proof of address. if not working a letter from someone who is supporting her at the moment, preferably notarized. good luck to your friend.

She needs a high-risk doctor. Tell her to apply for Medicade...she needs to go to her local DSHS office. There are hospitals that will take this insurance and take good care of her and her baby.

Contact Planned Parenthood ASAP. It sounds like your friend may need nutrition and healthcare advise, as well as advise on getting financial aid.
