Thank you!

We need conservatives to take over complete power in order to fix this. The Democrats have been using this flaw in the system to cheat for decades. Those who think it's not the Dems, check out the voting records of who wants to force ID and who wants to let illegals, criminals, and dead people vote.

... because blockbuster is privately owned... I thought that you Republicans could tell the difference between government and private business...weird?

but in reality... it's a safeguard... a safeguard from a poll tax...

let's look at it in simple terms...

you say "what's $20 to get a license... it's no big deal?"... to which I say... "you are correct and I agree"...

but what you're not thinking about, in my opinion, is this.. first off $20 is a small price but what if the economy took a large downturn? I hope it doesn't happen but who knows, odds are at some point the economy will grow weak... like it or not...

then that $20 is more like $100, because money is harder to come by... then what if the government wanted to raise the price of driver's licenses to $100?... that would be like a few $1,000 now, which would insure only the rich vote...

I don't like the direction the idea goes in... and similar things have happened before... do I think it would happen... probably not very likely in the next 100 years... but beyond that who knows... and once a law gets on the books, it's hard to get it off, especially if it can be used to gain more power...

basically, I don't have a real big problem with it now... but I have a big problem with it when I think about how it could be used in the future...

Blockbuster makes you show your ID because there is money involved and they are liable.. for voting you have no issue unless you have the same name show up twice.. then you get to launch an investigation... not that i agree with not showing the ID.. i do believe that everyone should get to vote that is registered.. weather they have an ID or not... but for those that do have an ID make then flip it out.. it just cuts down on the crap people can say happened.. even if it didn't... on the other hand yet again... seeing as how i don't commit voter fraud i rather enjoyed being able to get in and out so quickly.

Because you had already registered to vote and when you voted you had to sign and they checked your signature against the original when you registered. Chances are you already had a Blockbuster card and that was the only ID you had to show there. I know that you are trying to make a point but it is pretty weak.
Suppose that when you did register to vote you did it illegally. If when you voted and signed your name that would have been ample evidence that you had committed a crime and you could have been arrested. Nice try!

Blockbuster is not a publicly owned business. Don't know why the heck you want to compare apples and oranges

And they SHOULD have checked your ID when you voted. Maybe the granny that was in charge of your district couldn't see

In many areas they view it as discriminatory to ask for ID while voting. Some people believe it will prevent the homeless from voting because lack of money or permanent address. I personally, think this could be worked around, and would love to see mandatory ID checks at all polling places.

But...they've already had one state Supreme Court rule that ID checks are unconstitutional, so we shall have to wait and see. Thank goodness for law writing judges. Imagine where we could be without them...

With a Republican controlled Congress, anything's possible!

Blockbuster, on the other hand, is run by sensible people :).

Because Dems don't have a vested interest in corrupting Blockbuster.
