How bad are tanning beds, I mean really?? I know women who have tanned their whole lives and look fine and do not have skin cancer....so why do they say that they are so bad? I want to start tanning again, but I always get worried I'll get skin cancer.

Just take your time and don't go like everyday. I go once a week and I'm fine. I know it will increase my chances of getting skin cancer but that won't happen until later in life and when I'm old I won't care what I look like. Don't do the mystic tan because you'll look orange. Just go to the tanning bed in moderation and you'll be fine.

Just because they dont have cancer now does not mean they wont have it tomorrow or the next day. And then by the time u are 60 ur skin will look like a shriveled up apricot that nothing can do to help it. You could eventually get brain cancer or a tumor. Tanning beds are just gross

They're bad. Even minimal exposure in tanning beds increases you chances of getting skin cancer by about 7 times. Also, they age you REALLY fast. I tanned to try to get a little color for my wedding and I can seriously see the effects it had, even though it was only a few times. You will definitely notice more lines on your face and more uneven skin if you tan.

If you want to use a tanning bed, you are at risk of getting skin cancer. There is a higher percentage of people who dont get skin cancer, but you dont want to be in the percent of people that do get it. It's your decision. If you really want a tan, consider a self tanner or a spray on tan.

tan in moderation...yes, if you tan each and every day there is a large risk that you wil acquire skin cancer. However, if you tan moderately (1 or 2 times a week of not less) there is less of a chance. Tanning is proven to lessen depression and help skin problems. You just have to know your limit. When you do tan outdoors, make sure to use an SPF.

Definitely use the tanning beds in moderation. Personally, I don't think they are worth the risk Why don't you just get mystic tan? That is what I do through the summer. You can also get fake tanning lotion applied at a salon. You'll look great without damaging your skin!

You will have a bigger risk of skin cancer if you tan excessively. While tanning only a few times is not good for your skin it most likely will not badly harm it -- though it may dry it out.

Tanning also ages the skin.

one tenning bed session= 8 hours lying out on the beach, unprotected.

this is becuase instead of the suns spread out rays, tanning beads are concentrated UV rays, which cause cancer. They age you faster then time and cigerattes combined. And do you really want the wrinkles, sunspots that come along with it? The tan doesnt last forever, and can you spell c-a-n-c-e-r? Its definitly not one of the smartest decisions you can make, instead, get a spray -on tan. It has all the pro's and none of the con's.

no there not bad my sister goes and so does my mom and they are just fine .you can get skin cancer if you dont have any protection and your at more of a riskwith out it ... but the sun is good for you thats why there are tanning beds to manipulte sun.. it also depends on the kind of skin you have...if you have reel reely bad skin then my opinion is that you are more at risk than others...
