I lost my job last week and I am looking for a business to run from my home office. I like sales and marketing. I am not interested in MLM opportunities because what I have read here they are all scams and I don't think I would feel comfortable selling over priced products.

My paraents were in AMWAY in the late 70's and early 80's and as a kid, I watched them loose most of their friends and lost touch with family members because of the hope they put in the soap. Eventually, the lost of the people around them affected their marriage and they got divorced.

I am looking for something I can feel good about and not deceive a person into something that is not real. Any ideas?

If you want to make money, you have to follow the Baby Boomers. I have been studying business opportunities over that past several months and have looked at many of the opportunities suggested in this tread. It is my opinion that the wellness industry is the future for the aging baby boomers since they are now concern about preserving or maintaining their health.

Through my own research, I have learned that the best products to sell to baby boomers are consumable wellness products that are consumable and people will reorder repeatedly. Most of the companies I have found in the nutritional supplement space that offer home-based businesses are network marketing (also known as Multi-Level marketing companies) that all seem to offer a unique product. The problem I have discovered is that the price they charge for the end user is too expensive and most people cannot afford the product to buy regularly. You probably saw this with your parent’s AMWAY business.

The product category I determined to be the best to cater to the Baby Boomers is the “functional health beverage” industry. I looked at pursuing three fruit juices: Noni juice, Magnosteen, and Goji. What I found is that all of the major players are indeed MLM companies. The problem that I had with it, besides the ethics in my own mind about selling a product for outrageous process was the quality of the products. I discovered all three companies use a reconstituted version of the actual fruit they are marketing and the also add less expensive ingredients.

Here is what I learned about their products ingredients and prices:

XanGo™ $115.00 four bottles • Bottle size 25oz.
Reconstituted garcinia mangostana juice from whole fruit, apple juice concentrate, pear juice concentrate, grape juice concentrate, pear puree, blueberry juice concentrate, raspberry juice concentrate, strawberry juice concentrate, cranberry juice concentrate, cherry juice concentrate, citric acid, natural flavor, pectin, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate.

TAHITIAN NONI INTERNATIONAL™ $168 four bottles • Bottle size 33.8oz.
Reconstituted Morinda citrifolia fruit juice from pure juice puree grown in French Polynesia, plus natural grape juice concentrate, natural blueberry juice concentrate, and natural flavors.

Himalayan Goji ™ Juice $186.00 • Bottle size 32oz.
Reconstituted goji juice from whole Lycium barbarum fruit, grape juice concentrate, pear juice concentrate, apple juice concentrate, pear puree and natural flavor, with sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate added to maintain freshness.

Beside the crazy prices and the unnatural ingredients, I did not think I could possibly sell any of these products to the average man/women of the street. The price is simple prohibitive. I almost changed my product category interest until I found http://www.buymynoni.com that offers 100% pure Noni juice from Hawaii and a business opportunity to make direct sells from my house. Best of all it is FREE to join!

Unlike the MLM companies, their unit prices are low enough for the average person to afford it while at the same time offering good profit margins. If you look at this company or any other what you want to look for is a product that is:

• Low unit cost
• Consumable
• Offers a fair profit margin for your services

Good luck to you.

I understand where you are coming from. I have friend that lost a friendship over Amway. The company that I work with is often mistakened as another mlm or sublevel of Amway but is completely different and doesn't push you to sign up your friends and family just to make a profit. The products are also not over priced like Amways and they are always giving me free stuff. Anyways I know you are not interested in my company but I just wanted to let you know that they are not scams, but Amway did it all wrong. Their commission rate was too low they required you buy way too much of their product more than your personal needs and the enrollment into the company was way too high. Also what very few Amway people know is with Amway if someone you helped get started with their own business gets to the point that they get ahead of you, you lose that commission from that person and they only went up to 4 generations. My company is totally different and they have never changed their name in the whole 21 years they have been around.
Anyways to help you with your search for a work at home business, I do know that there are some phone answering businesses that are legitamate. It does cost some money to start them because you have to get an additional phone line in your home and set up a computer with the software that they require for you to use. A friend of mine worked for West and the only thing is you must pass all their training to start work. Any company that you are looking into a great place to research them is with the Better Business Buerau. go to http://search.bbb.org/ and type in the company's name, address, or url and you can see where they stand with them. I wouldn't trust any company that is real new or does not show up on this site. I wish you luck with whatever you do and sorry about your parents, but at least you have learned from it also that business is business. I have never asked anyone of my family or friends to join me with my company but when they started asking questions I answered them and told them that it was up to them and at least I know that they are not going to risk losing anything if they decide to try it. Good luck with your search.

This is direct sales and not a get rich quick scheme. I love this product and checked it out for three years before I came aboard. It is not a mlm and I personally would not sale lemons but I will sale lemonade. I use this product all the time with my family. I am in the travel industry with Coastal. We now also are able to be travel agents, which generates another stream of income. There are multiple streams of income to be made in this business. There are also multiple ways to work this business. 95% of people that are in sales do not know how to sale let alone close, so we offer a call center where you can market your sales through which ever niche you are good in and great for you if you are multi talented. I have had some say that it is a mlm because your first 2 sales at the level you come in at goes to your director but sorry that is another stream of income for you and those are your training sales. We do train you and teach you different ways to market and in most businesses you do give up a sale or 2 before your sent out all on you own. The vacation packages alone are worth their weight in gold! Just came home from a womans conference and we stayed at a great resort with golf course, winnery, spa, in room masseuse everything great. the rooms were 140.00 and I paid 63.00 a night. That was just a little bit of some of my savings too much to get into now. Check it out if you think you might be interested. Go to http://www.shahansdestinations And there is a live Q&A call tonight at 9:00pm EST time phone-212-461-5800 pin-4433#. You can bring all your intellegent questions here to get them answered. But wherever you go and wherever life takes you good luck on your journey!!!

Hey, I hope that this will help you out.
I promise...this company is not a scam.
This is not like Amway.
I work for myself and from home. I do not sell, stock, pick-up or deliver anything.
There is no paperwork, no record keeping, and no overhead.
All I do is set up wholesale accounts for a catalog company.
The starting cost is $29.All of your business info is included in that cost.
This is a SOLID 20 year old, INC 500 company, with NO large investments, and NO RISK.
And if you are not satisfied, you get ALL your money back within 90 days.
This company is set apart from ALL other companies.
In two short years my mom, who is a stay at home mom,
is making very reliable, residual income.
This is not a MLM, or I would not be involved in this myself.

Hi Harry,

if you wanna earn real money in a home based business, here's something where you can sign up for free as an affiliate and promote online as well as offline:
http://affiliate.allsat.com/?SESSID=37da5b69620e624d6e9f3f96189393cc&kbid=12482

For every new dish customer you refer you receive a whopping $110. They have a very dedicated affiliate support and you receive many free resources to get you kickstarted. No outlay here. Work with a real and reputable company. And this has nothing to do with MLM or any schemes at all.

Sell only 10 dishes per month and you can buy yourself some nice dinners. ;-)

Best wishes
Mike

P.S. Yes, I already earned some money with them!
P.P.S. Using the internet you can actually do this from anywhere in the world.
