No more important than not voting. Both are political/ideological statements - except for the lazy. How can voting be important when the person "elected" only has 25-30% of the populations votes? That figure is VERY generous, most times they have less than 23%. For those of you mathematically challenged - hypothetical situation:
50% of population votes (RARELY)
55% of votes cast for victor (again, rarely)
27.5% of actual population responsible.
The view of a few out weigh the view of the mass? Y'all are messed up if you can't see this

Of course it is...unless you would like to live in a dictatorship where you have no say over what happens in your own government and nation. Voting allows us to choose representatives we feel will best take care of our needs and values. If you don't take part in the electoral process, you are not giving your opinion a valid voice. Complaining about politics as usual is not acceptable because we all have the opportunity to make a chance/difference with our vote. Everything in our country, in some way or another, comes down to the officials that we elect.
So, yes, it is REALLY important.

If you don't feel strongly enough about the political issues to vote, we who do would rather not have your vote count anyway. There are lots of people who can't vote, and to them it is very important. If you don't have a strong preference for who wins, for you it's not important. It all depends upon how you feel about politics. There are many people who don't care at all about politics. I actually envy them.

Yes. I believe its important and everyone should. Do I? No. Why? I couldn't care less about politics and have no interest in them and will not make opinion on something I know nothing of. I leave that to the people who do educate themselves on the issues.

Yes. One should respects one's right to vote. There are many countries that don't allow its people to vote. The US people are very lucky that they can have a lot of rights, especially the right to vote.

Reassures the people that they still have a voice in government . If you are a populist you are happy with the election .You have to go along as they say to get along and anyone who is truly anti Bush and the current trend that is making the white race richer in America is a fool .

It's absolutely important. But, local elections are much less organized than presidential elections. As a result, although I have asked for details, I have no idea where my local polling place is. So, I am unable to vote today. Yes, I'm pissed off.
