What perspective are you speaking from? A government curfew or a parental curfew?

Government curfew -- completely unnecessary. It is not hte govts job to raise children OR tell us, law-abiding citizens when we can and cannot leave the house (except in VERY VERY rare circumstances such as war or natural disaster).

Parental curfew -- completely necessary. Teaches boundaries and limits as well as consequences for breaking both. Teens need to be inside, in bed at a reasonable hour in order to get homework done and be fully prepared for school and activities the next day. Any parent that does not impose a curfew should not be a parent.

parental curfews are absoultley uneccasary and unfair. I am a teen i get great grades in school and perfrom well, whats more i never get in trouble. And you no what? i have no curfew so thats case and point of how its unfair as long as you teach responsiblity. and governmental curfews are unconsitutional. and they usually dont work, the only time that curfews should be encated like that are in cases of severe national distress, not for the trivial garbage they do now.

I think that they established the minors be in a house by 10 pm in the height of Gang activity, in the early 90's. And I thought when I was younger that it was a good idea, and I still do. What purpose do minors have roaming the streets at all hours of the night? In my eyes, they are just up to no good.

Just unfair. It shouldn't be the duty of the cops to parent kids. It also gives night shift cops in small towns something to do. Cops love to try and be dad. There is no good reason to prevent young people (as in adolescents who can watch themselves) from carousing the night away.

Government curfews generally reduce vandalism and other late night crimes, but how effectively is anyones guess.
