Here are the recommended weight gain guidelines for pregnant women:

* If you are normal weight before pregnancy:
Gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy.
* If you are overweight before pregnancy:
Gain 15 to 25 pounds during pregnancy.
* If you are underweight before pregnancy:
Gain 28 to 40 pounds during pregnancy (depending on your pre-pregnancy weight).
* If you have a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets or more): See your health care provider. You will need to gain more weight during pregnancy depending on the number of babies you are carrying.

Seems like every dr says 25-35 lbs is ideal for a normal, healthy woman; less for someone who is overweight and more for those who are underweight. My dr told me the more weight you put on during pregnancy, the more you have to lose after the baby's born. (I hated that comment because I was growing a baby inside of me, who cared how much I weighted! I'm pregnant for goodness sakes!) Also keep in mind that if you are planning to breastfeed, the weight just melts off. I gained 30 lbs while pregnant and was down to 5 lbs from my normal weight a month after delivery. (Those 5 lbs were the weight of my breast during bf)

They say the normal weight gain is 10 - 15 kg but it also depends on your weight before you fell pregnant. I was 40kg before I fell pregnant with both by boys and I put 20kg on with my son and so far I have put 17kg with this pregnancy. If you are unsure speak to your GP or midwife!
