Depends on your skin...
I know someone who took theirs out for just two days and it closed and healed. I also know a few people who have had it done and have it taken out and there is still a hole!!!

I've never had a lip pierced, but my ears had been pierced 20 some years and closed up in a matter of a few months! The mouth heals quicker than any other part of the body, so I would say yes, in less than a month even!

I personally wouldn't know, but I wouldn't think so. I know when you get your ears pierced you have to leave some kind of earring in for the first 6 months. But if you're really worried, contact a local piercing specialist, like Claire's. They often know the best place to get it done, and tips on how long to keep the lipring/earring/nosering in for. my friend got it done and took it out after 2 months cuz it kept catching on her clothes! she has a dimple wer it used to be, but its closed up and this has been 9 months now

There will be a small scar but yes, it will close up. Mine did relatively quickly.

you can buy this piercing stuff, its like lotion, and it will keep the hole from closing up
