It seems like, becasue it's not Marriage people are going to Bi*** and act and I'm like why waste my vote on something that won't be appreciated, it just seems that way. The subject doens't concern me, but why be helpful if it's not going to be recieved anyway.

Thats how I feel about it.

Hi H2 Oasis,
It is the same as telling us that we can ride the bus but we have to sit in the backseat that are the same seats. Equal rights mean the same rights for everyone. I do appreciate though you believe we should have "some" rights which is better than most.
I hope you will appreciate where we are coming from. Take care!

Here in the UK we have 'civil partnerships', which I assume is a similar thing to what is being proposed in the US.
I'm happy with the situation, because it is legally exactly the same as a civil marriage between heterosexuals (i.e. one performed in a registry office or somewhere else other than in a church), and confers exactly the same legal rights and responsibilities.
The only thing that would make it fairer is if all marriages that are not performed by a church were to be called the same thing - so there would be two types of marriage: religious or secular.

I don't know if this answers your question about the US election, but it is still a vote in favour of equal rights, so I can't see who would have reason to complain.

I think the state should get out of the marriage business for everyone.

State should issue civil contracts or domestic partnership papers and let churches do marriages.

But as long as our tax rates are the same we deserve every single benefit offered to any other citizen.

Until "Domestic Partnership" equals marriage in every way, it will continue to be unacceptable. If you went to college and because you went on a scholarship instead of paying for it, If they Gave you a "Certificate of Participation" instead of a Diploma, how would you feel? In Many areas the Domestic Partnership is worth little more than the paper it is written on.

It depends on what the domestic partnership entitles them to.If all it will be is a paper title then I'm sure they will complain. What they want is to be on equal ground with the traditional M/W marriage. They want the same rights.I'm not really sure why this is a problem.

I think anything is better than nothing. G0ys do not believe in marriage for us but my lover voted no on a ban of marriage for non heterosexual couples in Wisconsin. I would vote no on such a ban as well although I do not personally believe in marriage as our government defines it for anyone.

Well that would be like taking your car away and saying you are just going to ***** and want another. That makes no sense. You should do what is in your heart. If it helped one wouldn't that make a difference?
