Gangs are groups of people who find power in their unity however they who promote violence and illegal activity. It is common knowledge that to enter a gang members (both men and women) are forced to undergo a violent initiation ceremony. From that point on members must continually perform violent acts to further themselves in the gang hierarchy. For instance injuring a rival gang member is often rewarded with compliments and respect. Additionally, illegal activity such as drug use and sale, theft, assault, rape and loitering are common among gangs. These activities are almost part of daily gang life, and members are practically forced to participate or face ridicule or worse. In the end many gang members end up dead, in jail, pregnant at a young age, homeless, addicted to drugs and very much alone. It is a very expensive price to pay for some friends.

Gangs, need to be defined here. If we are talking about watching each others backs and enduring all, you have a problem. What are friends for then? If we are talking about transitionairy luminaries like the Kings of Comedy concert, you are seeing a gang that has grown up, but can still engage the young in a bull **** show and still smell like roses are blooming outside you Grandma's porch as you trot off to conquer your need for a girl, woman, the sister touch. White chicks would not understand, but will blankly ask why not anyway. I could go on all day with you. The parking the vehicle parallel way where the King of Comedy turns down the radio just tells me I was not there, but they take you there and say Sister, you sure got white, but I made you smile and laugh, and the Chrysler stock just tripled and split and noone took my money. I get it, and we didn't even screw. Let's walk the plant on break, play chess where you are so lame and I shine like a white knight. And I'll go home and kiss my wife and maybe think of you at home too. Politics of an assembly plant. Everyone made the same hourly wage and the Shelby's flew off the line into the tire alignment pit, and you better watch my *** when I dropped 30 pounds working in this 115 degree factory alongside you. You own a Shelby, oh, yeah, I had it before you even got the keys, white boy. Out, rich boy.

I am often hapopy to help someone who shows in their question that they have made a little bit of an effort - but not when the person doesn't seem to have even tried.

This is not an earth-shatteringly difficult question is it - think of "gangs" you know or have heard of - what happens to people in the gangs, what happens to new people who might join, what might happen to you if you joined a gang - how would you feel if your best friend joined a gang - and why.

i can only think of reasons as to why its bad to be in a gang:

you get a bad reputation.
if you get shot, all your gang (friends) will just walk away and leave you to die.
you hurt your family, because they have to see their sons or daughters getting caught up in something as this.
