well i am currently in 11th grade and in spanish 3 (but i began it at my old school)..i moved to a new school last year and spanish 3 was not available at the time that I moved to my new school. So about 4 weeks ago I started the 2nd half of spanish 3 at my new school which is roughly where I left off. well all the other students have been in this class since the beginning of the year and I have just come in during the 2nd half of the semester and it seems like my teacher isnt willing to help me catch up. the main thing is my teacher is a total grouch to me and gets mad when I ask any questions! the other day she went around asking students if they were going to spanish 4 then AP spanish. when she got to me she said "this is your last year right"..this really makes me upset because I wanna continue with my spanish(it will also look very good on college apps)but she is the only spanish 4 and AP teacher at my school! if i told her i wanted to take it she would prob make fun of me HELP!

Well your so on the right track... don't let your teacher intimidate you. Learning Spanish will not only help with college but when you apply for a job, you will automatically get paid a percentage higher for being bilingual. Okay I think that if this problem presists, you need to tell your parents so they can contact the school. THat is crap that your teacher would act like that to a student. I say you contine to go onto level 4 and oh well if your teacher doens't think you should. As long as you try and participate in class your doing great. but you really should talk to your parents.

I went through something very similar in High School....I had a vey direct approach. I waited to speak to the teacher after class and asked "Do you think I require a tutor to pursue the next level in French? It seems that my questions are not appropriate for in class and I would very much like to continue with the language." I didn't elaborate or try to sound snotty...I just said it.You could also ask for help from the teacher herself after class or at lunch. The answer I got was yes I should get a tutor{she then recommended me one} and maybe some extra work was required. As it turned out I passed with 85% and took French on through College and University. Good luck.

Just respect her and don't ask stupid questions. If you have a question, ask a classmate. Consider after-school tutoring or a computer program to help you catch up. When you are caught up, work super hard to earn her respect to show her how dedicated you are. Talk to your teacher after class and explain to her that you are having trouble and ask her if there is anything that you can do to catch up. If she gets b*tchy, report it to the principal, it's her job as a teacher to help you. Dont worry about next year, most of the time you and your parents can override your teachers decision.

Sounds like it was an indirect put down. I would take the spanish class at a local city college and report your teacher

but you haven't told her yet and that's the problem. don't miss this opportunity because your afraid she will make fun of you. tell her after class, be frank with her, tell her you are enjoying the class and if there is anything else you can do to improve your spanish skills. unless she has a serious vendetta against you, she should try to accomodate your requests, afterall, she is a teacher and its her responsibility. how can a teacher resist you?
