I don't have a clue. It should have been left alone. Saddam Hussein was a cruel leader but his heavy hand is what kept that country together. Now it is descending into civil war and nobody knows what is going to be the final outcome. They will just have to fight it out among themselves.

Talk with the insurgents and get that Muppet of a president of Iraq the Americans gave the job to out. He knows less about his own country than Bush as far as I can see. He is after all an American lipsickle, I use that word cus that is a big insult from ancient times in that part of the world. Mind you he would not know that since he is not an Iraqi.

I'm not sure. It's a belief thing, and most people there seem pretty set in their religious backgrounds and beliefs. I think time would probably be the best solution. They've just started out with democracy and everyone seems relatively quick to point out failures. Need I bring up the articles of confederation? Eventually I hope they see how many people die as a result of violent actions. You have to improve the standard of living, educate the people, in order to increase the value of a human life to them. Then when that happens, death will overcome the benefit of dying and they will solve their own problems. All of this requires a significant amount of time though. So.....time, maybe. Or they'll fall into a state like Israel is.

Educate the Iraqis on the benefits of cooperating with each other for the good of the region and the country, rather than fighting for power, for their city, for their religious branch.

I don't see a major change coming for at least 20 years - maybe 50.

Truthfully they have lived in the stone age for so long I don't think they want democracy and freedom. These people are tribal. We think we have such a great country that everyone would want it. All though I do feel that the US is great but I grew up in this country. Trying to make civilized people out of them is like making a silk purse out of a sows ear. Try setting the founding fathers in front of a computer and tell them to find the constitution on the Internet and print it out. They would be completely clueless.
hopping down from my soap box now.

Keep eliminating the bad guys until they quit. There is no other way really- either that or surrender. And then, in a few years time, fight the same war in your own back yard.

For examples of the above- see Iran. Within a few years the best ally of the US was turned into the most fanatical enemy of the US. You can thank Carter for that.

Split it into 3 countries. That's the only chance, & it's far from a certainty.

I'm an American-I care more about America.
Those who care more about Iraq than America are traitors.

Nothing. We leave it gets worse. We stay it gets worse. Pandora's Box and the inquisitive child George Bush are a bad combination.

Get the US out and let the Iraqi people form a government that *they* want not one that we want them to have.
