They are a little gift from God.
But seriously, when a man ejaculates inside a woman's vagina, sperm swin into the fallopian tubes, where, during ovulation, an egg awaits. The winning sperm fertalizes the egg. When the egg is fertalized, it travels down the fallopian tube and the fertalized egg attatches itself to the uterine wall (the uterus' wall) and an unbilical cord is formed from the veins in the uterine wall. This is how the fetus is nourished so that it develops.
approx. 38-44 weeks from the day of conception, the woman will go into labor. In classic cases, the baby will be delivered from the woman's vagina (not her urethra... where she pees.... there are a total of three holes down there..... pee hole, sex hole, butt hole). In some cases, a woman has to have a cesarian section, where the doctor cuts an incision to her uterus to deliver the baby that way.
I'm sad that there are people here who are too prudish to explain this to people. It's natural, it happens on a daily, and it's the only thing that really makes all humans alike....in the sense that we have the sex organ that fertilizes the egg or has the egg to be fertalized.

Having sufficient prenatal care, taking prenatal nutrients, treating STDs and keeping off medicinal drugs and alcohol would possibly cut back the chance of getting a baby with a bodily deformity, however a few are simply flukes of nature and regardless of the mom and dad doing the whole lot correct a child can actually be born with a deformity.
