Back pain is definitely normal. Mine started right in the beginning (at 11 weeks), but pretty much subsided by the sixth month. It's only natural for your body to react to all that weight gain up front. It's a strain. If you feel like the pain is REALLY unbearable, call your doctor because it could be back labor.

In my experience, I had back pains off and on throughout my whole pregnancy. Then again all kinds of different parts of my body was experiencing pain off and on. Your body is doing some amazing things that can throw it all out of whack.
It may or may not be unusual depending on your circumstances. If you think it may be out of the ordinary, don't take any chances....GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR. Better safe than sorry.

If the pain is in the lower back almost the buttocks, it could be sciatica. It's painful and very normal during pregnancy. Call your doctor if you are worried. That's what you're paying them for.

I have had severe back pain and scitaitca since week 10. Everyone is different and it can also depend on how you are carring your baby. Mine is up in my back and I am at 28 weeks and its getting harder on my back now.

Best Wishes!

It could be just normal stretching of muscles in the back. It could be back pain from toting a big belly around. Call Doc.
